Im Fokus stehen daher Aufnahmen von Werken nationaler Komponisten, darunter viele unbekannte. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt des Interesses sind Arienportr\u00e4ts historischer einheimischer Gesangspers\u00f6nlichkeiten, Opernstars wie Lucienne Delvaux oder Pierre d\u2019Assy. Die j\u00fcngste Ver\u00f6ffentlichung gilt der 1898 geborenen Mezzosopranistin Livine Mertens. Sie deb\u00fctierte 1923 an der Br\u00fcsseler Oper, eroberte sich schnell gro\u00dfe Rollen wie Carmen, Mignon, Octavian oder Charlotte, sang aber auch viel Zeitgen\u00f6ssisches und Operetten. W\u00e4hrend der Besetzung Belgiens durch die Nationalsozialisten engagierte sie sich im Widerstand, wurde zweimal inhaftiert und zog sich deshalb aus Sicherheitsgr\u00fcnden weitgehend aus der \u00d6ffentlichkeit zur\u00fcck. Nach der Befreiung trat sie wieder in Br\u00fcssel auf, verk\u00fcndete aber 1945 \u2013 vermutlich wegen interner Intrigen \u2013 ihren R\u00fcckzug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das mit sch\u00f6nen Fotos ausgestattete Album versammelt Aufnahmen vom Anfang der drei\u00dfiger Jahre wechselweise mit Orchester- oder Klavierbegleitung. Mertens besitzt eine schlanke, kultiviert gef\u00fchrte Stimme von heller Farbe und leichter H\u00f6he. Sie bringt Stilbewusstsein f\u00fcr das franz\u00f6sische Repertoire mit, \u00fcberzeugt aber auch als freche Operetteninterpretin in Offenbachs \u201eGro\u00dfherzogin von Gerolstein\u201c und Supp\u00e9s \u201eBoccaccio\u201c.
