Der Regisseur will die menschlichen Begrenzungen in unseren K\u00f6pfen zeigen und f\u00fchrt uns zur spanischen Exklave Ceuta an die Grenze zwischen Marokko und der Iberischen Halbinsel mit viel aggressivem Realit\u00e4tssinn und Perspektivlosigkeit. Das B\u00fchnenbild von Alfons Flores zeichnet sich durch Leere und D\u00fcsternis aus. Im ersten Akt ist nur eine Telefonzelle zu sehen (aus der Carmen die \u201eHabanera\u201c singt \u2013 mit wem sie telefoniert, bleibt ein R\u00e4tsel), ebenso eine Fahnenstange, an der eine Frau von der bestialischen Soldatenmeute maltr\u00e4tiert und aufgeh\u00e4ngt wird. Danach befinden wir uns nicht in der Schenke von Lillas Pastia, sondern f\u00fcnf ausrangierte Mercedes aus dritter oder vierter Hand dienen als einzige Requisiten. Auf ihnen wird ordin\u00e4r und betrunken getanzt und hinter einem Auto wird erzwungener Oral-Sex dargestellt; au\u00dferdem zieren Campingsessel und ein Christbaum (?) das Bild des zweiten Aktes. Ein M\u00e4dchen (die Carmen der Zukunft oder vielleicht Merc\u00e9d\u00e8s\u2019 Tochter?) spielt mit einer Barbie-Puppe am Souffleurkasten. Ein \u00fcbergro\u00dfer Stier an der R\u00fcckwand thront im dritten Akt an der R\u00fcckwand und dominiert die leere B\u00fchne. Und im Schlussakt sehen wir eine Bikini-Sch\u00f6nheit, die sich auf einem \u201eSpanien-Badetuch\u201c eincremt \u2013 auf die Erkl\u00e4rung dazu wartet man noch?! Die Kost\u00fcme von Merc\u00e8 Paloma wirken wie elende Hausfrauen-Kleider der siebziger Jahre und sollen wohl die Armut der Roma und Schmuggler darstellen. Praktisch alle M\u00e4nner zeichnen sich durch Brutalit\u00e4t gegen\u00fcber den weiblichen Figuren aus \u2013 offensichtlich wollte der spanische Regisseur zeigen, welche Behandlung Frauen (als Vorbild dienten seine Gro\u00dfm\u00fctter) gew\u00f6hnt sind und wie ihr Leben in der Realit\u00e4t aussieht\/aussah. Wer klassische \u00c4sthetik und sch\u00f6ne, warme Farben liebt, wird der Zeffirelli-Inszenierung von 1978 nach 164 Vorstellungen nachweinen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als ph\u00e4nomenale Carmen erlebt man Anita Rachvelishvili mit gro\u00dfer Stimme und herrlichem Timbre \u2013 erstmals in dieser Rolle in Wien. Ihre ausdrucksstarke, intensive Darstellung einer Vollblutfrau, die ihren K\u00f6rper bewusst einsetzt und die leidenschaftlich wie ein eruptierender Vulkan ist, zeichnet eine kraftvolle Studie der freiheitsliebenden Romni. Nach seinem Rollendeb\u00fct 2018 an der Wiener Staatsoper ist Piotr Becza\u0142a erst das zweite Mal in der Rolle des eifers\u00fcchtigen Brigadiers Don Jos\u00e9 zu erleben. Gro\u00dfe Phrasierungskunst, samtiges Belcanto-Timbre und bombensichere H\u00f6he gelingen dem Polen m\u00fchelos. Besonders das leidenschaftliche Liebesgest\u00e4ndnis der Blumenarie bleibt dauerhaft in Erinnerung. Als Hausdeb\u00fctantin stellt sich Ensemblemitglied Vera-Lotte Boecker als Einspringerin vor. Ihre Mica\u00ebla ist kein blasses, unschuldiges Dorfm\u00e4dchen, sondern eine rauchende Frau, die auch mit erotischen Attacken zu \u00fcberzeugen versucht. Die Koloraturen erklingen lupenrein, nur zeitweise mischt sich unerw\u00fcnschte Sch\u00e4rfe in die Stimme der Deutschen. Erwin Schrott pr\u00e4sentiert sich in Eleganz, H\u00f6he und Tiefe gewohnt souver\u00e4n und ist ein Bilderbuch-Escamillo. Auch Peter Kellner (Zuniga), Szilvia V\u00f6r\u00f6s (Merc\u00e9d\u00e8s) und Sl\u00e1vka Z\u00e1me\u010dn\u00edkov\u00e1 (Frasquita) aus dem Ensemble bieten starke Leistungen.
