Das Madrider Publikum wei\u00df die Kulturpolitik der Regierung unter schwierigen Bedingungen zu sch\u00e4tzen und dankt mit einer ausverkauften Premiere von Vincenzo Bellinis \u201eNorma\u201c. Ein Blick von Berlin, Paris und Wien k\u00f6nnte sich lohnen \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der australische Regisseur Justin Way sieht eine interessante Parallele zwischen dem Stoff der \u201eNorma\u201c und dem politischen Geschehen in Norditalien zur Zeit ihrer Urauff\u00fchrung an der Mail\u00e4nder Scala 1831. Nach der Niederlage Napoleons war Norditalien unter habsburgische Herrschaft gekommen, was dort die ersten nationalistischen Bewegungen provozierte. So l\u00e4sst Way das St\u00fcck in einem alten italienischen Theater spielen, in dem die Kompagnie gerade \u201eNorma\u201c probt. Dem Publikum zweigt sich auf diese Weise eine Dualit\u00e4t Primadonna\/Norma, Habsburger\/R\u00f6mer und Chor\/italienische Patrioten. Dabei h\u00e4lt Way auch eine romantische \u00c4sthetik f\u00fcr geeignet, ein derzeit wichtiges Thema anzusprechen: Soll sich ein Volk gegen seine Besatzer auflehnen oder nicht? Charles Edwards kreiert dazu ein Theater im Theater, mit einem mehrrangigen Zuschauerblock an einer Seite, aus dem die Habsburger dem Treiben der urw\u00fcchsigen Gallier bisweilen zusehen, und einer altmodisch-romantischen Ausstattung aus der Theaterpraxis jener Zeit sowie den entsprechenden Kost\u00fcmen von Sue Willmington. Nicol\u00e1s Fischtel beleuchtet das Ganze mit dem warmen unfokussierten Licht jener Zeit. In diesem Spannungsfeld findet mit guter Personenregie der f\u00fcr beide unl\u00f6sbare heimliche Konflikt zwischen Norma als Druidenpriesterin und Pollione als habsburgischem Besatzer statt. Am Schluss gehen sie gemeinsam in das in Flammen aufgehende Theater \u2013 ein Finale wie in Wagners \u201eG\u00f6tterd\u00e4mmerung\u201c. Auf der anderen Seite versteht es Way aber auch, die dem traditionellen Frauenverst\u00e4ndnis zu jener Zeit weit vorauseilende Pers\u00f6nlichkeit Normas glaubhaft darzustellen. Sie ist nicht nur bedeutende Druidenpriesterin und Sprecherin der G\u00f6tter, sondern auch Liebhaberin, Mutter, verlassende Gattin, Freundin, Richterin, aber auch Ausf\u00fchrende sowie Opfer zeremonieller Praxis. Damit war Norma zu ihrer Zeit schon eine moderne Frau, stark und ebenso wagemutig wie aktiv im Treffen von Entscheidungen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das bildet sich auch im Gesang der meisten Protagonisten ab, der nicht unbedingt mit den Prinzipien des Belcanto zu vereinbaren ist, der gerade mit der \u201eNorma\u201c gro\u00dfe Bl\u00fcte erreichte. Yolanda Auyanet betont mit einem kr\u00e4ftigen und charaktervollen Sopran die Intensit\u00e4t der Emotionen der Titelpartie, bisweilen bis an ihre stimmlichen Grenzen sto\u00dfend. Cl\u00e9mentine Margaine als Adalgisa \u00fcberzeugt mit einem klangvollen und variationsreichen Mezzo, allerdings nicht immer verst\u00e4ndlich. Michael Spyres wirkt als Pollione etwas steif, kann aber mit seinem kr\u00e4ftigen, wenn auch nicht gl\u00e4nzenden Tenor gut mithalten. Roberto Tagliavinis Bass fehlt der f\u00fcr Belcanto w\u00fcnschenswerte Balsam. Marco Armiliato am Pult des Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real sorgt nicht immer f\u00fcr die Feinheiten und die Dynamik der Musik Bellinis und betont immer wieder auch die dramatischen Momente.
