Der kanadische Regiestar, dem an der Staatsoper (unter anderem bei seiner \u201eFrau ohne Schatten\u201c) auch schon mal eisiger Gegenwind entgegengeschlagen war, erweist sich jetzt als genau der Richtige, um die wahrscheinlich erste Oper \u00fcberhaupt f\u00fcr die Gegenwart nicht nur genie\u00dfbar, sondern zu einem Erfolg beim Publikum einer ganzen Auff\u00fchrungsserie zu machen. Auf den ersten Blick ist \u201eRappresentatione di Anima et di Corpo\u201c von Emilio de\u2019 Cavalieri (1550-1602) eine ziemlich durchsichtige Parteinahme f\u00fcr die r\u00f6mische Kurie, die mit dem Heiligen Jahr 1600 ein Zeichen gegen die Reformation setzten wollte. Das Tolle an Carsens szenischer Umsetzung ist, dass er das Subversive, das noch jeder wirklich \u00fcberlebensf\u00e4higen Kunst innewohnt, freilegt. Was f\u00fcr einen Moment wie pure Propaganda der Gegenreformation wirkt, die zweifelnde Individuen in ein katholisches Moralkorsett zwingt, wird zum Triumph der Emanzipation von zwei jungen Leuten (Anett Fritsch und Daniel Schmutzhard als Anima und Corpo in Jeans wie von heute), die nach dem rechten Weg f\u00fcr ihr Leben suchen. Carsen spannt dabei einen Bogen von der n\u00fcchternen Probensituation, bei der sich die Mitwirkenden fragen, was das Ganze soll, \u00fcber choreografierte Ensembleszenen bis hin zu spektakul\u00e4ren Bildern. Mit einer beweglichen riesigen Pforte, mit dem Einbruch der Verf\u00fchrung von Erotik, weltlichem Glamour und Vitalit\u00e4t des Lebens und deren Entlarvung als verg\u00e4nglicher Schein. Der Clou ist die Illustration der Aussicht von Himmel oder H\u00f6lle durch an Seilen auffahrende und niederst\u00fcrzende Seelen in Menschengestalt. Am Ende triumphieren menschliche Emanzipation und Selbstbestimmung in einem jubelnden Fest ausgelassener Freude.
